Mouse calls in Coeur d'Alene climb every fall, as soon as nights start dropping toward freezing. Mice that spent the summer in the woods around Canfield Mountain, Tubbs Hill and the lakeshore start looking for a warm attic, garage or crawl space, and a lot of them find one.
Many of the older homes in the Fort Grounds, Sanders Beach and the Garden District have crawl spaces, settled foundations and old utility gaps that make easy entry points. Newer homes in Coeur d'Alene Place and Riverstone aren't immune either, since garage door seals and dryer vents are common ways in. Lake cabins and second homes that sit empty part of the year can have a big problem before anyone notices.
We walk the outside of your home and check the garage, attic and crawl space for droppings, chew marks and the gaps mice are using to get in.
We seal entry points with copper mesh and sealant. A mouse can squeeze through a gap about the size of a dime, and it chews right through plain expanding foam.
Traps go inside, and bait goes in locked, tamper-resistant stations outside, so kids and pets can't get to it.
We come back to check traps and stations and keep going until the activity stops.
Mouse control starts with a rodent initial service: $349 when you start any recurring plan, or $699 on its own. Recurring plans start at $41 a month, and our 365 Pest Free Guarantee means that if mice come back between visits, so do we, at no extra charge.
See Your PriceMost calls start in late September and October, once overnight lows head toward freezing, and keep coming through winter. House mice don't hibernate, so a few mice that get in during the fall can keep breeding indoors until spring.

They can be. Deer mice in the Inland Northwest can carry hantavirus, which spreads through their droppings and urine. Don't sweep or vacuum droppings. The CDC recommends wearing gloves, airing out the space for 30 minutes, soaking droppings with a bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) for 5 minutes, then wiping them up with paper towels.
